Dionne Kimble-Walker has had music in her life as a mainstay passion since the age of ten. She was introduced to its pull of rhythm and groove by a childhood friend, and has maintained a healthy love affair with music since. From then, she went on to join different musical groups, such as school chorales, church choirs, community choirs, and gospel groups. She began to write, play, and sing the beautiful tunes of music, leading to her independent successful release of her CD. She has also shared the stage and performed with well-known national recording artists.
Twenty plus years ago, Dionne joined Highway Star band as a vocalist, and now-as owner- focuses her attention on differentiating the group from its competition. Their love for music helps them to beautifully perform vast numbers of genres, such as Big Band, Disco, 80s, Pop, Latin, and current hits.
With eleven plus members as part of the band, they’ve successfully and faithfully performed at weddings, fundraisers, festivals, and corporate events. The band has been featured at venues, such as Oreos Park, the Baltimore Convention Center, and myriad grand ballrooms across the DC Metro area with crowds of three-thousand and more.
Although no stranger to large crowds, Highway Star often plays in small, intimate settings adjusting their band size to accommodate budgets and space constraints. The group has a proven track record of producing an unforgettable experience, leaving an indelible impression on everyone. Their wide range of musicality, unique approach to service-excellence, and avid flexibility keeps clients coming back for more.
